The team who built, designed and cheered for SMIDSY are all bikers (except for a few who are 'motorcycle enthusiasts' :-) We know each other
through a motorcycle email list called IXION . This list currently has about 700 members, most of whom ride regularly, to and from work and for
fun.
Every now and again someone posts a "Mandatory Ixion Crash Report".
Occasionally the report is posted by a friend on behalf of the crashee, who is still in hospital.
Some of the crashes are on race tracks, a few can be attributed to inexperienced riders or just stupidity.
Most of the rest are a result of car drivers not paying enough attention,
not looking for something as small as a motorcycle, bicycle or pedestrian,
or not expecting anything other than the neat orderly lines formed by 4 wheeled traffic.
In these cases, as the biker is lying in the road having just been rammed by a ton of lethal steel killing machine
the driver often attempts to apologise by saying:
